From M1
The M1 becomes the M621 just outside Leeds. Continue on the M621,
exiting at J4. Follow signs to Harrogate. You will pass Tetley’s Brewery on
the left, then the West Yorkshire Playhouse on the right. Still follow signs to
Harrogate until you pick up signs to Chapeltown. The NSCD is just beyond
the Sheepscar interchange, on the right (approximately 4 miles in total from
the motorway).
From M62 (East)
Take the M1 north at J29, then follow directions above.
From M62 (West)
Leave the M62 at J27 and take the M621 into Leeds. Exit at J2, and follow
signs to Harrogate via the Armley roundabout. This will take you onto the
Inner Ring Road for a short stretch. Exit at the Harrogate sign. Pick up
Chapeltown signs. The NSCD is just beyond the Sheepscar interchange, on
the right.
From the North
At the A61/A6120 roundabout on the Leeds Outer Ring Road, follow signs to
Leeds. At next immediate roundabout take Harrogate Road (not the A61)
through Moortown and Chapel Allerton. Harrogate Road then turns into
Chapeltown Road and the NSCD will be on the left.
By Train
There are frequent trains from most parts of the UK. Leeds City Station is in
the centre of Leeds and is a ten minute taxi ride from the NSCD.
By Bus
Regular Services 2, 3, 3A and 46, from the city centre to Chapeltown, stop
directly outside the NSCD.

Open Level Contemporary Dance Classes
Open Level Contemporary Dance for ages 12-18 Tuesday: 6.15 - 7.45pm This class is aimed at young people from beginners to intermediate level. Participants will be expected to develop skills in balance, posture and alignment, through simple movement phrases. Sportivate Boys Youth Dance Term dates Each term runs for 10 weeks and there are opportunities to enrol each term. Summer term Monday 22 April - Saturday 29 June 2013 * Classes are not held on Bank Holiday Mondays and there will be a reduced term fee to reflect this (Youth Improvers and Advanced Contemporary Performance classes only) Cost of course £3.50 per class Enrolment To guarantee a place on the courses, all participants must enrol and provide course fees in full, prior to or at the first class of the new term. Places are subject to availability. A number of free-entitlement places are also available for the courses listed above. U.Dance 2013 is the national youth dance festival and it is taking over Leeds from the 19th - 21st July. You can see some of the best youth dance companies from across the UK perform at venues all over the city including the West Yorkshire Playhouse, The Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre and The Riley Theatre. Each venue will host performances from talented young people, who have been selected to showcase their work at a national level. Pieces will vary from large groups of up to 30 dancers, to duets, to individuals with pieces varying in length, showcasing the breadth of youth dance choreography and performance the UK has to offer. You’ll see a range of styles from hip hop to contemporary and you’ll be able to say you saw this amazing talent first. U.Dance 2013 is not just about watching performances – it’s also about celebrating and showcasing youth dance through film, photography and workshops. YOUTH DANCE SUMMER SCHOOL - RETINA DANCE COMPANY AND NORTHERN SCHOOL OF CONTEMPORARY DANCE A five day summer school delivered by internationally renowned Retina Dance Company, in partnership with Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD). An energetic, fun and challenging experience for dancers aged 12-20 years. The summer school will feature a range of contemporary dance technique classes, contact work, repertory and creative workshops and will culminate with an informal performance in The Riley Theatre. • Led by experienced dancers form Retina Dance Company • Technique and repertory sessions based on Retina’s signature style • World class facilities at NSCD, Leeds • Opportunity to meet and work with other young dancers • Two age groups: 12-15 and 16-20 years old • Only £100 for the week course Retina Dance Company is an international touring Anglo/Belgian contemporary dance company artistically led by choreographer Filip Van Huffel.
