Vote for Your Member of Youth Parliament for Leeds

Members of Youth Parliament (MYPs) are elected in every part of the UK. There are currently over 600 MYPs and Deputy MYPs. Once elected MYPs meet with MPs and local councillors, organise events, run campaigns, make speeches, hold debates and ensure the views of young people are listened to by decision makers. The most important aspect of any MYP’s job is to make sure they represent the views of the young people in their constituency. We are giving you the chance to vote for your UK Youth Parliment representative from Leeds!! Over the past month we’ve been recruiting young people to become Members of Youth Parliament (MYP’s) for Leeds. 12 young people applied and 6 were shortlisted by the currently elected MYPs and a Senior Youth Worker from the Youth Association. The shortlisted candidates met on 26th January to develop their manifesto idea, create a video and to discuss taking forward their campaign with the use of multi media. You can click on their names to read what they are passionate about and watch their videos before you decide which candidate to vote for. It’s really important that you vote for the person who you believe best represents you and your views and the things you want to change for young people in Leeds. Once elected MYPs meet with MPs and local councillors, organise events, run campaigns, make speeches, hold debates and ensure the views of young people are listened to by decision makers. Over the next week the shortlisted candidates will be posting their updates about how their campaign is going, so watch this space for more information and a link to their blogs
