Leeds Children's Mayor Candidate: Robin Hood Primary School
Name: Georgia Driver
School: Robin Hood Primary School
Slogan: A child friendly community
My name is Georgia and my reasons for becoming the Leeds Children’s Mayor are:
As a child who enjoys learning, I myself personally believe that every child has a right to an opinion in their education as it is their future and their life that lies ahead of them. To me, every dream is a possibility and all children should have an equal chance, whatever their circumstances.
As the mayor, I feel that there are some, not many, major issues with the way some things are handled. Sensitivity is a major part of this and like in our school, I believe that we should have junior agony aunts.
In our school, a group of about four or five people are picked to become junior agony aunts and their role is to provide kindness and friendships to the children while their problems are tackled and investigated further by adults if needed. I feel that it will make schools a nicer environment and is a cost free idea.
From a young age I have had a passion for childcare and have wanted to open my own nursery for a while. I also have a passion for cooking and baking. I feel that children should be given chances to aspire from adults and should be given that ability to trial new things in order to develop an idea of their future.
As of yet I have not come up with an idea in which to make this possible, but this is when I feel that the other children come in and make suggestions because if I was to become mayor it wouldn’t just be about my suggestions and as I said earlier every child has a right to an opinion and if everyone has input then as a community we will develop and Leeds will have happy children and a happier environment.
Thank you for considering my entry to become Leeds Children’s Major; I am thinking of fresh ideas all the time that I will be more than happy to share with you.
