Leeds Children's Mayor Candidate: Robin Hood Primary School
![]() |
Name: Laura Paul
School: Robin Hood Primary School
Slogan: A council for children
If I was children’s mayor of Leeds I would form a council so children and young people would have a chance to express their views, feel heard and get involved in making decisions.
My idea would be that each school in Leeds would nominate 1 person to represent their school in the children’s and young people (c.y.p.c) meetings.
Each month we could meet and listen to each others ideas and decide what would makes Leeds a better place. We would then like the opportunity to pitch ideas to the real council at their meetings. This would lead to all children in the Leeds area having a voice on the council and feeling part of the city. The CYPC would only need a small amount of money from the council to fund their monthly meetings and hire a representative to take notes and organise the meetings.
If I was children’s mayor of Leeds I would be willing to represent the children’s council and pitch our ideas at 99 councillors on a regular basis. I feel if this is successful other council’s could copy the idea and not just Leeds children would benefit but the whole of the country.
Please note my children my poster should have a person representing each school in Leeds, however I didn’t know how many schools we had.
