Slogan: Save children from boredom!

If I was the Children’s Mayor of Leeds I would make more parks and improve existing ones. It would give children opportunities to make new friends and it would give them somewhere new to go. I will make sure every area in Leeds has an equal amount of facilities so that no area feels left out. I will make sure that new parks will be unique and will give children the chance to try out something they have never tried before. It will bring people together and ensure that the community spirit stays with us.

It will make a difference because they will attract more people and make parks more popular. We will need to listen to other people’s ideas and do research on existing parks. We will need to consider things like;

What do we already have?
Where are the parks?
What is missing from the parks?
The people who already use parks and find out their views on the most popular parks

I will hold a drawing competition for children to put their ideas down on paper and we could ask members of the public to vote for which drawing they would like to be built in the future.

The ideas can be put into practice by drawing up plans based on the ideas. To make it affordable you could have skate competitions and charge people to watch or people could make small donations to enter parks.

Everybody will benefit because we will involve all Leeds school children and families in this process by sending out questionnaires. I will make sure parents are provided with a questionnaire so they can have input into their children’s safety. We will also get children to help with small building jobs and I will get them to test out all the parks to see if they like them.
