The Leeds Big Bookend - 16/17 June

A weekend of inspired words and adventure - a festival not just about books and reading, but about stories, creativity, fun, fantasy and facts with a lovely selection of family activities.
Family activities during the Big Bookend Festival will be held at The Carriageworks in Millenium Square and include:
Satuday 16th June
Summer Dreaming with Cathy Cassidy
Cathy writes hugely popular books for children and young people. Hear Cathy talk about her latest book in the Chocolate Box series. 10.30 – 11.30am, £3 (Family ticket £10)
Kate Pankhurst Family Illustration Workshop
A fun – filled session with Kate, a children’s book illustrator to get the family drawing together.
1.30 – 2.30pm, £3 (Family ticket £10)
A Children’s History of Leeds with Gillian Rogerson
Take part in a session for all the family with Gillian’s fun activities. 3.00 – 4.00pm, £3 (Family ticket £10)
The Knife That Killed Me with Anthony McGowan
An event for young adults; hear Anthony talk about his novel which is based in Leeds. 1.30 – 2.30pm, £3
Sunday 17th June
K9 and Me with Mat Irvine
Come along to hear about Mat’s career in special effects working on programmes such as Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures and meet K9! 1.00 – 2.00pm, £3 (Family ticket £10)
Astrosaurs and Beyond with Steve Cole
Come along to see Steve, author of Astrosaurs, Cows in Action and Slime Squad. A frantic fun session for all the family. 3.00-4.00pm, £3 (Family ticket £10)
