A part-time pre-vocational course, YYD works with young people from across the Yorkshire region that have exceptional potential in dance. It helps them realise their creative and expressive potential as dancers and choreographers, enables them to make informed choices about their future and prepares them for professional dance training. Entry process Entry is through audition. To access the audition young people should first attend an Open Day where they will find out more about the scheme. Open Days will be on 28th January, 18th February 21st April 2012. Financial support is available for students who qualify for the scheme through audition. This support will be means tested and based upon parental income. Centres for Advanced Training As a whole YYD delivers two dance strands: Contemporary Dance, run by NSCD and available to 13 to 17 year-olds; and Ballet, run by Northern Ballet and available to 10 to 12 year-olds. Each strand has its own group of students and curriculum. The scheme is primarily delivered outside of school and every effort is made to keep a healthy balance between academic work and dance training.
