Be part of the Breeze Festival Management Team 2012

Date: 17 Oct 2011

SOME PLACES STILL LEFT - Are you aged 13– 19? Do you want to programme events for the Breeze International Youth Festival 2012? Do you want to gain experience volunteering on arts events? Every year Leeds City Council runs the Breeze International Youth Festival – an arts extravaganza of exhibitions and performances which showcases work by young people from Leeds, including events at the Carriageworks Theatre and an open air stage on Briggate. Since the festival began in 1996 we have had over 2,250 young people perform and an audience of over 16,000. For 2012 the Breeze International Youth Festival will be from Wednesday 30 May – Sunday 10 June. You will be involved in programming events, choosing which projects to fund, help with behind-the-scenes planning and marketing of the festival, as well as managing the events at the Carriageworks. You will work with industry professionals, visit different arts organisations and meet some of the artists and performers taking part. The project will offer you the chance to: • learn new skills in planning, programming, marketing, budgeting and event management • develop your confidence, communication skills and team work • improve your prospects for further education or work • gain your bronze level Arts Award (nationally recognised accredited qualification) • see loads of amazing performances and events The sessions will start on Tuesday 1st November then every Tuesday till 12th June* from 4.15pm – 6.15pm at Leeds Town Hall *There will be a break for school holidays. There are limited places so you will need to commit yourself to the whole project. Please submit a completed application form by Wednesday 26th October - download an application form here. This is what the 2011 BFM team said about being involved: • Do as much as you can! Get involved in everything and go for it – in the sense of try something new. • Attend all the sessions because opportunities like this don’t come round often and go to the extra events. • Work hard, (‘cause that’s what it takes to make a festival great) and enjoy it (‘cause you’re only young once and this is an amazing opportunity). Download an application form here.
