>> Full Event DetailsArt mentoring at Pavilion
Location:
Pavilion is a visual arts organisation that makes work with artists using photography, film and video. We also have a public art gallery in the Round Foundry (Holbeck) where we put on a range of art exhibitions and events. Pavilion is inviting young adults from South Leeds to take part in an art mentoring scheme with professional artists. It's a six-week course consisting of six two hour sessions on a weekly basis. Each week you will look at one inspiring piece of art work – it could be a film, video or photography - and talk about it with a mentor. There will also be the chance to develop practical skills such as photography and writing and to gain work experience at the Pavilion Gallery. At the end of the six weeks you will be invited to go on to South Leeds community radio station to talk about a work of art that has particularly inspired you during the course . You'll also get chance to find out how programmes are produced for the radio. You may be studying art, looking for work in the creative sector or you may simply be interested in finding out more about artists and their work. As long as you are curious, enthusiastic and interested in what art has to say about the world this programme is for you. The mentoring will be based at the Pavilion Gallery in Holbeck but will also involve visits to other galleries around the city. It is free and open to people aged 18 and over based in the South Leeds area. Travel expenses will be covered. To be considered for the opportunity contact gill@pavilion.org.uk, 0113 242 5100 or 7 Saw Mill Yard, Round Foundry, Leeds, LS11 5WH.
