Breeze International Youth Festival... Gateway to the summer! We kick start the festival with ‘taster teasers’ in high schools, providing art workshops that in 2008 included busting some moves with Phoenix Dance and turning yourself in to a human prop with drama group, Paperbirds. Then, all hail our celebration weekend! 2008, we had a stage on Briggate with star studded performances from: Breakers unify, Silver steel sparrows and Fuse[d]. We had a Sports Extravaganza on Millennium Square with a gigantic Wii on the BBC Big Screen, and demonstrations from football to touch rugby. We even had a schools art exhibition at City Art Gallery and our very own radio show, did you hear us on the airwaves? Over 100 international guests attended from countries as far as China, Durban and Germany. They may have even paid a visit to your school? We love looking after our friends from overseas…I know it sounds like we’re boasting, but we are very proud to show off the young people of Leeds, and we think it is something to shout about, so we will! ** Breeze International Youth Festival Celebration Weekend** |
