West Yorkshire Playhouse Youth Theatre

What is the Playhouse Youth Theatre?

West Yorkshire Playhouse Youth Theatre aims to open our building and resources to young people, as well as creating opportunities for emerging theatre and performance makers.

Through a collaborative process of making theatre, Playhouse Youth Theatre produces work that responds to the lives of young people and recognises their talent. The Youth Theatre is committed to raising aspirations whilst developing skills, knowledge and understanding of young peoples' experiences of making theatre.

We are currently encouraging applications for our youngest, and oldest age groups to start sessions in January.

The spaces we have in the Youth Theatre are in the groups as follows:

Age Group Day Time
5-7s B Saturday B  2.30pm – 3.30pm
17-19s Wednesday 7.30pm – 9.30pm
17-19s Thursday  7.30pm – 9.30pm
Across each year, members will take part in weekly sessions, work towards varied performance outcomes, explore a wide range of theatrical forms and techniques, and attend a performance each term at West Yorkshire Playhouse as a group.
Each term is charged at £100, payable three times per year (August, December and March). Please note new starters pay a £30 administration fee on confirmation of a place. Bursary options are available.

Please email lease email youth.theatre@wyp.org.uk to enquire about places and bursaries.
