Opera North family friendly concerts

Opera North has a longstanding reputation for creating top quality operas and has one of the country’s largest music education programmes inspiring audiences and engaging communities across the North of England. Now Opera North is offering more opportunities for children to enjoy classical music with an expanding series of performances, special concerts and workshops to inspire children and adults alike.

Specially programmed family shows such as Musical Rumpus (29 Oct) will encourage toddlers and their families to discover making music together as part of an interactive, multi-sensory experience in the Howard Assembly Room.

Following on from last year’s hugely successful School’s Performance of The Bartered Bride which saw more than 600 children pack-out the Leeds Grand Theatre, the company of Opera North’s production of L’elisir d’amore will present a special performance just for schools on Tuesday 23 February.

Jacqui Cameron, Opera North’s Education Director comments:
‘It is vitally important to engage young people in music from the earliest age because experiencing music with other children and as a family is an ideal way to nurture creativity. It’s really important for us, that these values run through our entire programme from the mainstage operas to the Howard Assembly Room and the Kirklees Concert Season.’
