Sounds Right - Music Tech
“If it sounds right, it is right” - JoeMeek
Get all techy and learn about music production in a series of free workshops at Chapel FM during July. This course is aimed at anyone over 14 who is interested in furthering their knowledge of recording techniques.

There are five different elements of the course:

Wed 13th July - 5-9pm: Single mic recording
Taking it back to basics to start off with we’re going to be looking at how you can make great sounding recordings using just one microphone at a time.
Thurs 14th July - 5-9pm: Recording Live Takes
After working out about mic placement and the characteristics of different microphones, we’re going to be using that knowledge and ramping it up a few notches by attempting to capture us all playing as live band.
Mon 18th July - 5-9pm: Building songs one track at a time
After a long weekend for our ears to recover from the racket, we’ll be attempting to refine our practice, focusing on layering instruments up one at a time to create a more polished product.
Wed 20th July - 10-4pm: Hope & Social ‘Crypt Cover’ with Carnabells
Friends of the Chapel FM, Hope & Social are going to be recording a song and a music video for their ‘Crypt Covers’ project featuring ace band—Carnabells. We’ll be helping set up and record.
Thurs 21st to Sun 24th July - ‘Underneath The Stars’ Festival

Chapel FM are going to be curating a stage at Kate Rusby’s festival in Barnsley and you’ll be using everything you’ve learnt to capture live performances from some of the finest bands in Leeds.
