Child Friendly Leeds City Centre Competition

Young people in Leeds are being given the opportunity to have their say about what they think would make Leeds city centre more child and family friendly, with the launch of an exciting new competition.

This July, Child friendly Leeds will celebrate its fifth birthday! As part of the celebrations, we are launching a competition for children and young people aged 4-18 years (25 with additional needs) asking them to tell us their low cost/free ideas for making the city centre more welcoming for children and young people.

Shortlisted entrants will be invited to our Child friendly Leeds ambassador event on 3 July at the Queen’s Hotel to share their ideas with businesses and organisations from across Leeds. Feedback from this event will then be used as the basis to develop high impact projects for the city centre. Whilst there is currently an impressive offer for adults, we want to improve and make the city centre more inclusive for children, young people and families.
The competition asks entrants to categorise their ideas into one or more of the following five areas: Safety, Transport, People, Activities/Events and Physical Environment.
Entering this competition presents children and young people with the ideal opportunity to reflect on what they want from the city centre and have their say. The competition could be completed as part of a classroom activity and could also be emailed to parents so that it can be completed at home over the Easter holidays.
The closing date for entries is Friday 26th May.
